Simple Navy Bean Soup Recipe


Navy Bean Soup Ingredients

* 2 cups dry Navy Beans
* Water as needed
* 1/2 cup carrots, chopped
* 1 medium onion, chopped
* 1 cup lean ham, chopped (substitute any meat you desire)
* Salt and pepper to taste

Navy Bean Soup Directions

1. Soak beans overnight, drain and rinse.
2. Combine beans, 6 cups of water and all remaining ingredients.
3. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook 2 hours (or until the beans are tender.)
4. Add more water while the beans are cooking as needed.

Notes:
You may use canned beans if you do not want to soak beans overnight.
You may also add, peeled potatoes, a bay leaf and a dash of hot pepper.
